Statewide Meetings on Arkansas Retirement Systems

From September 5th to November 6th the Joint Committee on Public Retirement & Social Security Programs (JRC) will hold meetings at different venues across Arkansas with the directors of the Arkansas Retirement Systems.  The directors will give presentations on the status of their systems, along with any   proposed changes, and answer questions.  Specifically the Arkansas Retirement Systems are:

Vacancy on ATRS Board - Applications Welcome.

A vacancy for Trustee Position #6 – Administrator (Superintendent) occurred on the ATRS Board on July 1, 2019. The ATRS Board of Trustees has authority to appoint a successor Trustee by majority vote of the Board of Trustees. The ATRS Board voted at a special called telephonic meeting on July 8, 2019 to take applications from qualified members to fill the vacancy by appointment. The ATRS Board intends to fill the vacancy with an appointment through June 30, 2021.

To be eligible, the candidate must be an active member with five or more years of service or a T-DROP member who is accruing monthly deposits. The candidate must be employed in a position requiring an administrator's license as a superintendent or an educational cooperative director. This trustee may be employed by any participating ATRS employer. The Board has set a deadline of August 30, 2019 for applications of qualified members to be submitted to ATRS. The ATRS Board intends to take up the appointment at a special called meeting in September, 2019.

If you are interested in serving on the ATRS Board in Position #6, then the ATRS Board welcomes your application. If you know of a qualified member who is interested in serving on the ATRS Board, then please share the application and content of this email with them. The ATRS Board welcomes applications from all qualified members. Membership on the ATRS Board is a very important way to serve ATRS members and the State of Arkansas.

The ATRS Board and ATRS staff acknowledge the dedicated service of Jeff Stubblefield on the ATRS Board. Mr. Stubblefield resigned from the Board, effective July 1, 2019, due to his recent retirement. The ATRS Board and staff wish Mr. Stubblefield well in the future.
