March 7, 2023 - Now Accepting Retirement Applications Online

We are pleased to announce that members who have registered for access to the member portal are now able to apply for T-DROP and retirement benefits online.

If you meet the following eligibility requirements you may apply online:

  • Members who are currently active with 27 years or more of service, may apply to enter T-DROP or apply for Age and Service benefits.
  • Members age 60 or older with at least five years of service, may apply for Age and Service benefits.
  • Current T-DROP participants may apply for retirement out of T-DROP

If you do not meet the above eligibility requirements, you may still be eligible to retire but we urge you to contact us for more information.

To apply for benefits, log in to your member portal account and select the “Apply for Benefits” item on the left menu.

March 3, 2023 - Executive Director Update: Actuarial Impact of LEARNS Act

The 94th General Assembly - Actuarial Impact of the LEARNS Act on the Teacher Retirement System

Last week I was asked by several members of the General Assembly if the LEARNS Act (SB294) would have an actuarial impact on the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System. I just received the cost analysis report from the actuaries this afternoon. They found that parts of the LEARNS Act could have a small cost to ATRS, but not to any substantial amount as to be a cause for concern.
